Texas almond

I have not grown this plant. Texas almond, Texas dwarf plum, small flower peach bush (Prunus minutiflora) is endemic to the Texas Edward...Read Mores Plateau Region where it is infrequently found growing in soils with a limestone base or on limestone slopes and ledges. It often has zigzag branches with small leaves up to 3/4 inch long. They are oblong to elliptic, usually untoothed and gradually taper to the base. The leaf tips are typically rounded; however, sometimes they have pointed, tip. The small white blooms appear in March when the plant leafs out and are in groups of one to four. The spherical, 1/2 inch long fruit has some flesh, but is mostly pit. The fruit ripens in June. This plant makes a nice ground cover especially in rocky areas that needs erosion control.
