The color is an orange-red, sort of a flame color, some have said paprika. I think it would look great with a purple tulip and am planning to try it with 'Passionale'.

A fantastic large flowerhead. Radiently red. Georgeous. Absolutely fantastic tulip. Great foliage, too. Highly recommended.
