Personally, I don't really mind that the flowers flop at all and don't see this as even remotely negative. I just bring them inside to enjoy them close-up!
I live where the winters get very, very cold, and for the last 5 years my plant has done exceptionally well. Last winter was particularly difficult, but it's coming back strong, and this June it even put out two spectacular flowers.

The blooms are quite beautiful though, and in my opinion are worth a little extra effort. I sometimes cut flowers for use indoors, but I usually leave them on the plant and support them using the green plastic coated, wire plant supports that have an open loop on the end. I have several sizes of supports ranging from 18" - 36". Most nurseries and big box stores (WalMart, Lowe's, Home Depot, etc.) carry them during the growing season.
I've found that once a bud has started to swell but before it actually opens is the best time to add the wire support. If you wait too long to add the support the flower stem stiffens and is more likely to snap. Propped up this way the blooms are visible and can be enjoyed still on the plant. :-)

Its ...Read Moreshape and pretty leaves make it a very pretty shrub in my garden. It blooms profusely, and the flowers are gorgeous. However, they cannot be seen on the plant since they droop on their thin stems. I just cut them off and enjoy them in vases and as floaters.

They occupy a prime spot in my garden, so cutting them and putting them in vases is a poor solution.

This is very slow to propagate and our plants are way too large to sell over the internet.

The plant has a bad habit of having very weak stems. As the bud opens the flower droops and the bloom ends up in the center of the plant. If you have a bloom to open it is best to cut the bloom and enjoy it in a vase.
