I purposely planted an O'Taki and a Moonfire close together. Both are smallish, medium sized trees which will grow the same shape and their branches partially overlapping and both being luminescent in Fall will knock my neighbors socks off :) I have a Nicholsonii on the other side of the Moonfire which will also grow same height and the three will be able to be grownups together. I hunted far and wide for a large enough O'taki to get started...it's worth it to pay for as large of one as you can afford and find. For an Acer Japonicum it grows in what I call the 'regular apple tree' shape, is medium sized to 15 ft and has outrageous colors.
