The soil here is generally clay-based to sandy. So for my flower beds I’ll usually add some peat, compost, cotton husk mix, and whatever left over garden soil I have on hand - most of these are organic. Using that, past seasons had good luck with grapes, Day lilies, bee balm, lilacs, sage, and barberry. This season is roses, gooseberry, bleeding hearts, rhubarb, and some new ground covers... can’t wait to see how they do!
