Bloom season overlaps with that of Allium christophii and Salvia nemorosa. I like these best when interspersed with other tall alliums. Foliage begins to disintegrate before flowering, so plant bulbs behind other low perennials with good foliage.
Best in light, well drained sandy or loamy soils in full sun.
These are inexpensive and easily available from fall bulb dealers.
