Bell Pepper 'Islander'

Keep it picked and you will have amazing productivity....Read More It's one of my favorites and have not found an open-pollinated equivalent. These don't sun-scald as easily as some in my hot-day dry climate either. Perhaps two negatives are the cooked color and the rather high price of seeds. Cooked more than briefly, such as cooking in a sauce till tender, when purple - it tends to fade to gray - a rather unappealing color. However that's not really a problem for me, but it might be for some.
Oh, and it's listed on some sites as pale lavender. It's not - it's purple. Could be the sun here, but it's only pale when really young, and even then it's not really pale lavender - it's sort of pale green and pale yellow with a purplish cast.

Grew fast and easy in big container. Bore loads of lilac fruit from early into December here in Houston. I use them like fresh green pepp...Read Moreers, just so much more colorful :-). Makes them suitable for flower beds or the front yard.

Note: most peppers grow as a GREEN pepper, maturing to either a red, orange, or yellow pepper. Islander grows as a purple/lilac colored pepper and matures to an orange/red color.
