I saved seed from that plant and grew last year from seed. Started in house in mid-April and transplanted to outside flower bed on south of house in direct sun and intense heat and extremely dry soil. The plants grew to 5 to 6 feet tall and approx. 3 to 4 feet in width. The leaves were gorgeous dark reddish purple and approx. 1 to 2 feet long and about 8 inches in width. The tassels were all around a foot long. The most beautiful plant I have ever grown. Guess it depends on where you plant it. I got millions of seeds off it too! Didn't know they were edible. Going to give that a try too.

Makes really nice vegetable to add some colour to your salad if you happen to pinch them back to make them bushy :)

This plant is a prolific self sower. It has taken over by garden. Fortunately it pulls up easily!
