I planted the well...Read More-named 'Fall Fiesta' and 'Medici Prince' this fall, and can't wait for them to bloom next spring (I hope). 'Drama Queen', though, is a terrible name for this iris. (Sorry Mr. Keppel) For me, an appositely named flower is a big part of its charm. (see: 19th c. French Roses) Many irises have bad names (see: Schreiner's) and I refuse to call 'DQ' this, which obviously needs a masculine moniker. I might call/label it 'The Bishop' or some kind of 'Mr. ____' name, once I figure out after whom to name it! What a superbly serious and gorgeous inflorescence it has.....I should love to see it blooming next to tulipa 'Queen of the Night' and rosa 'Souvenir du Docteur Jamain'.........
The bloom is much more beautiful then the pictures I had seen. The burgundy and gold are perfect color combinations.
