These features describe Bambusa textilis perfectly and there's a good reason for this. A representative of The Smithsonian identified a small branch and leaf sample in the early 1990s as Bambusa mutabilis. The species is now known as a variety of Bambusa textilis but the name B.mutabilis has been perpetuated so long it has become standard. Taxonomic work is now in progress so, once an official report is published, an identity correction should finally take place.
