Narcissus 'Rijnveld's Early Sensation' sometimes bears the trade name of Narcissus 'January', however it's also sometimes sold incorrectl...Read Morey as Narcissus 'January Gold' or Narcissus pseudonarcissus 'January Gold'.
'January Gold' is a trade name for the cultivar 'First Hope' which has Rijnveld's Early Sensation' as a pollen parent and while similar in appearence, 'First Hope' has white flecks on the corolla rim, Rijnveld's Early Sensation does not.
Rijnveld's Early Sensation' bears bright yellow perianth segments with a slightly darker corolla with a notched and crenate rim.
While this cultivar first flowered in 1943, it wasn't registered until 1956. It received a RHS Award of Garden Merit in 1993.
Loves a well drained soil in sun or partial shade. It's a very early cultivar flowering in January or February although I didn't plant mine until late last year and they decided to wait until March.
