It has survived planted among maple tree roots. Plant it where you will see it easily even if chilly weather keeps you inside. My only negative is that it often seems to be hit with passing cloudy or rainy weather- it closes up in clouds and gets beat by the rain. You have to make some effort to enjoy them, but they are worth it!
