Here on the east coast in zone 7a, 7b, & 6 near the ocean where our summers are humid, this shrub has no leaves on it by mid-July -- if it's that lucky (and that's in botanical gardens where they do nothing but care for plants).
Lovely flowers, but not worth the hassle. Especially since this is a rather large shrub when mature.

Haven't had a bit of problem with blackspot (of course I apply regular treatments of Neem) at all. It is a bit of a slow grower and has only bloomed twice since I got it about 3 months ago. I am sure once it gets a little older, it will take off! I cannot wait!
