Since it comes from areas where fire is part of the natural cycle, I fertilize mine with plant ash rather than bonemeal, and they respond by blooming madly.
My plants set copious seed, but I've not had much success with germination - less than 10%.
The only drawback to this plant is that the leaves yellow and die back just as it blooms - slightly unsightly.
