The tal...Read Morelest one is about 12 ft high and it is growing at an angle of about 10 - 15 degrees from vertical. These cacti are known for the candelabra crowns they have, and this one has a beautiful one.
So far, the base seems quite strong and the cacti gently sways with the wind. However, I would hate to find out the hard way that at a certain point the laws of physics will cause it to collapse. I am thinking of putting a vertical post with some sort of support for it. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Supposedly they can grow to 30 ft, but I assume that is when they are vertical. Thanks for any info or recommendations of a knowledgable source that I can ask.

Massive, spreading, branching columnar cactus from Argentina. Not intensely spiny. Thick trunks in aged specimens.
