Both are beautiful, but Tecate Cypress seems able to endure a wider variety of climate - it does well in cool, humid coastal areas where C. arizonica does not. It has (in my opinion) much prettier bark, and lush green foliage. It is both an interior (hot and dry) and coastal plant. In it's native habitat, it grows at elevations of up to 4400" feet and tolerates snow and hail in the winter (Guatay mountain, for instance). The claim that it is not frost hardy is completely wrong. It is hardy to zone 7 at least. But as the foliage is so lush maybe offer some protection from the wind?

It grows readily from seed. In my yard I have 3 trees which have grown to 10-12 feet in 8 years. WTH.
