It does incredibly well outdoors ...Read Morein full shade in the summer when the leaves grow much larger and the colours become much deeper. Bringing them indoors for the winter results in smaller leaf growth with weaker colourings but the plant is still quite spectacular and produces delicate blooms by January which continue for several months. I have them in both plastic and clay pots and all plants are growing over their pot rims, filling themselves out nicely to form domes of green and brown. I pay no special attention to soil pH, using a standard potting mix with the addition of some orchid bark or coconut fibre to loosen things up a bit. Watering the rhizomes along with the soil seems to result in the best growth during the dry indoor winters we experience here in Toronto. It is by far my favourite plant in the house!!

I have it under a light during the winter months and set it outside in morning sun/afernoon shade during summer months bringing it inside if the temps are to fall below 50 at night time.
