Can be grown outdoors in most places in So Cal and S Arizona. MAdagascan and S African native. This plant, in winter outdoors is nearly completely red in sun, or when severely stressed. Leaves short, thick and nearly spineless. In my experience, this is one of the easiest species to rot or overwater. I have lost multiple plants doing this. Still have one left and I hardly ever water it and it's doing great. One of the most ornamental of all aloes, and prized. Vulnerable in the wild.
