It tolerates a wide variety of sun, from several hours in the afternoon to dense shade. One H. pillansi plant grows in a small wall hung pot in complete shade with sporadic water (as long as 2 summer months without water) and has been just fine for 20 years. This species is very easy to grow and has lovely small dark red blooms near the plant base.
