Not quite sure how to feel about this plant , Here in Central Texas it needs copious amounts of water . I purchased it to attract humming...Read Morebirds but they seem to like the salvias and cigar flowers better. The flowers are themselves quite beautiful but the plant itself looks like a weed and where I have it, it gets tons of water and spreads. As of yet mixed love hate with this plant I prefer the blue lobelia siphilicata it is prettier and less weedy looking. and here the hummingbirds seem to go to the blue before this one . Still on the fence about ripping it out and planting another type of salvia or leaving it and letting it spread .

Members of the Fan series have an earlier bloomtime than the species. Blooms mid-Summer/Fall. Humingbirds and Swallowtails love it.
it loves a damp location, near a pond, will adapt to wet feet or well drained soil. Deadhead blooms, will improve overall appearance. Cut back in Spring not Fall, foliage will help the root zone in Winter. Mulch in Winter.
look good planted with hostas, daylilies, spiderwort, astilbe and ferns. I didn't take a picture on time, maybe next season.
Well established plant bed, but did exceptionally well this year due to a very wet season.
