Mid to...Read More late morning sun, no high-noon sun and no late in the day sun and it thrived. I recently moved it about a month ago to a spot near the creek only spotty morning sun and the air circulation not as good (high humidity), It's dying. I like this plant a lot, I need to move it soon before I loose the whole clumb.

After spending the winter in an unprotected pot w/ minimal snowcover and a few subzero nights, this was our first hosta up.

I'm very impressed w/ the toughness and beauty of the
H. kukitii.
Not a showy member of the Family for sure, just a good stable species plant.
If you're starting to burn out on all the new cultivars and ready to try some of the old species Hosta give this one a long look.

The long tubes and high scapes make it easy to spot.
After 5 years in a pot it is still happily blooming away.
One of the last hostas to bloom.
This late flowering gives it a nice place in the shade garden.
