But H. syriacus laughs at them; my 'Lavender Chiffon' is the size of a tree (possibly because it's near our septic tank drainfield) and is covered with blooms all summer; the 'White Chiffon' is smaller but equally floriferous, even though it's in a site that gets no winter protection. You can take hardwood cuttings (works best in late summer) with a little Rootone and grow them up in a year or so. Love these plants!
