I always thought this was a sky blue variety of phlox paniculata but its not. i just bought 2 this year and they are extremely healthy, i...Read Morenfact since their isn't an actual true sky blue variety of phlox i planted these imperial blue tall plumbago in with them and it did the trick;.. now i have every color of the rainbow in my phlox garden thanks to these plumbago, and the only way to distinguish the difference, is that the plumbago has olivey or limey color looking leaves. mike.

I have my Blue Plumbago in a large pot. In zone 4 we treat it as a Tropical. I bring it into the basement which stay between 45 an 50 deg...Read Morerees all winter. I cut it back to about 12 inches and water once a month. In the spring after frost I bring it out , fertilize and it grows to about 3 feet around and gives me a profusion of gorgeous blooms. I could not have this otherwise. So anyone who lives in a non hardy zone can enjoy this beautiful blue flower.

Better suited to an open space or wild land setting, grows very large with normal water and fertilizer. Hummers love it.
