This is a great border plant. It blooms for quite a long time and has a nice full bushy shape, maybe a foot high at most including the f...Read Morelowering spikes. It's a very nice pink color. If deadheaded it will bloom even longer. Eventually it stops reblooming after deadheading, and it can look a little ratty. At that time I cut it way down and it comes back again, although it blooms rather sparsely. I planted a couple last year and went back to get more this year.

Deadheading doesn't seem to be necessary except for aesthetic reasons--this plant has kept on blooming for me without deadheading.

I'm growing 'Giles Van Hees' in bright shade with just a couple hours of direct sunlight. It does not seem bothered at all by the shade from the house and tree line, and is content with a dose of late-afternoon sun.
