I have had the silver version fail in the sunnier back yard, I don't know why. I have one pot of golden started in front under oak, slowly spreading (unwatered). I have two pieces in a scantly watered self watering pot that's maybe faster, but far from full.
Plant specialist from Lowe's thought I overwatered the silver version out back, said to get moist then let dry. While that conflicts with what I had heard or read, in my extreme draining soil and what I'd seen myself on a neighbor's lawn it seemed to certainly be possible.
So far it's a lot of maybes but I do know that I like it to fill-in stuff and keep a lawn green without a million chemicals.
