I liked it a bit better, as a smaller plant, when it was shaded quite a bit by a big tree that I had to cut down due to ice storm damage. The variegated foliage is a treat all summer, and the seed heads last all winter.
Update Nov 2011. I got this plant in 1998. It is a vigorous grower. I have divided it a number of times, given clumps away, and this year have divided some of them again to give away. I would not call it invasive, but it is a strong grower, and in most settings I imagine it would need to be divided every few years and due to the woody roots it takes a lot of muscle to divide, preferably with an ax.
