I’m getting ready to remove nearly all the lawn in my back, going to do some xeriscaping and gravel, and I wanted to try and transplant some to use in a few areas. It’s soft to walk on, evergreen, the bugs like it, no mow/mow doesn’t matter, it’s pretty and the flowers are delicate. What’s not to like?! I hope we see a trend of embracing these plants instead of fighting nature and killing everything with chems.
An aggressively spreading perennial. Leaves are often mottled due to a viral infection.

I'm trying to clear some areas that will be rain gardens and having a harder time getting rid of it than of any other plant, even Liriope spicata. I've used an artist's brush to coat the leaves with undiluted brushkiller (talk about painstaking), tried cutting off the main stem and painting the tiny stump, and can't tell whether I'm making headway or not, because more seem to pop up the next day. Not a plant you want if you want it to stay in a particular area. Yikes!

But frankly, I hope it actually takes over the lawn, because it is thick and luscious, and has attractive small white flowers. It also attracts bees/pollinators and other wildlife. It sprawls on the ground, and therefore does not require mowing. why has no one thought about using this plant in the lawn, instead of your typical bermuda grass?
