Potentilla, Cinquefoil 'Rot'

This potentilla has very beautiful leaves with a silvery sheen and silvery edges. They contrast beautifully with the blood red flowers....Read Morer /> I have grown this successfully in SE England and SW France. It likes well drained soil and plenty of sunshine, languishing and eventually rotting if the roots stay too wet.
The plants form clumps of relatively tidy leaves from which the flower spikes rise in all directions. They have a tendency to sprawl, but if carefully placed this is not a problem and is well worth it for the rich coloured flowers they carry

Plant has lovely sawtoothed, white edged leaves that are very pretty. Hasn't flowered yet (set in the garden in June and it's November no...Read Morew). Seems to need a lot of water to get established, but is holding its own now that it's grown a bit and the roots are better established. It is evergreen and if successful supposedly gets as large as 3x3'. Pruning is suggested in early spring to neaten clumps.
