Arisarum Species, Friar's Cowl

I found this plant flowering in the Melbourne Botanical Gardens in Australia, and mistook it for an orchid. It might not look much like a...Read Moren orchid to most people, but the greenhoods (Pterostylis) is a large genus of Australian orchids and the Friar's Cowl flower is remarkably similar to some greenhood flowers. I have added one of the greenhoods (known as Maroonhood), Pterostylis pedunculata, to the Database to demonstrate the similarity in their flowers. Pterostylis curta (blunt greenhood) in the Database also has a similar shaped flower, although without the maroon colouring.
