After several years it appeared that it just was not happy and hadn't grown much, so I moved it to my new shade garden under pine trees in summer of 2002, where it has taken off and grown well ever since. It now receives only dappled shade and the moisture is less, but the soil is very loamy. Evidently the new accomodations are more to it's liking!

This is a considered a medium to large hosta - about 18" - 27" tall and 24"+ wide.

It grows well in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, which is zone 2b/3a. The leaf colour is especially nice in shady areas.

Divides easily every 4-5 years in the spring when shoots are 3" to 4" tall, takes some morning sun & regular watering. Perfers a soil rich in compost/sterilzed cattle manure. In it's present location, which is not very wide as you can see in the photo, it is not bothered by slugs at all.
