I moved it to my new home 6a zone with more light and moisture and the canes were 4'. I understand it blooms on new wood so I will be cutting it back hard and treating it like a baby this year. Wicked thorns but I'm glad I have it.
This is a very, very tough plant, albeit a very thorny one! It has survived dry summers with little watering, as well as cold wet winter...Read Mores and frost. The flowers remind me of scented paeonies, and it flowers repeatedly and well. I know that the raiser considers many of the older English varieties to be superseded by more recent (and PVR!!) releases but this is well worth growing.

This is a lovely plant but mildews much earlier than any other rose in my cool, wet zone 9 climate (NZ)
