It'...Read Mores growth habit is incredible, putting out 10 or more 12'-15' new canes every year. My plant, which is grown on it's own roots measures 7' x 12' and that is with canes heavy with blooms arching to the ground. I remove canes every season and have finally discovered how this rose wants to live.
This year I will remove all but 12 of the strongest new canes and peg them to the ground (there are probably 45 canes from the roots on this plant). This plant is a monster and I love it! It is absolutely stunning when in bloom and has no problems with any bugs or diseases and rarely any winter die-back but you'd best have lots of space if you let it have its own way. When you see paintings with the Ispahan of Mosul they cover the hillsides.
It is putting out abundant lovely blooms in my zone 7b garden now. Love the fragrance!

A once-bloomer but with a very long bloom period - up to 5 weeks of fresh, perfect clear pink blossoms with a glorious damask fragrance.
