They always look beautiful, don't seem to mind some drought, and add a colorful, graceful touch to my yard. They go dormant in winter, but the form stays beautiful and continues to be an important element in the garden. Each spring I pull all the foliage up into a "ponytail" and slice it off at ground level. Before you know it, they've filled out with new growth. I've divided them a couple of times and the new plants have done great, too. I'm in Zone 8a, where temps rarely get below 20 degrees. This spring we had a freak winter storm where the temperature got down to only one degree, and this plant wasn't fazed.

A very beautiful & graceful plant & much appreciated for its shape & soothing green color!! A sprinkler system is most beneficial to provide the amount moisture this grass thrives on, but it seems tolerant of dry conditions.

It has never self seeded or made new plants on its own, that I have to do by dividing; which I do often because I like this grass. The white stripe in the leaves gives the grass a soft look. It grows about 4 feet high with the flowers a bit higher. It is a very full grass and cascades nicely. Lovely for winter interest and when backlit. A real keeper.

Handled the extreme rains we got here this year very well (some of my other new ornamental grass plantings did not), but seems to also tolerate the occasional dry spell once established. So, a good plant for South Texas.
