Experts conflict on actual height. Van Gelderen puts this shrub at 5 feet, while Professor Dirr sets the height at up to 10 feet.
This is a free-flowering shrub with mostly sterile, large panicles up to 12" long and 8" wide, which are rather lumpy and bumpy looking, but beautiful, reminescent of H. paniculata 'Grandiflora' in their appearance, and will develop a pink tinge with age. Panicles will weigh down branches and may possibly require staking.
