A sturdy shrub with stout branches up to 6.5' high and wide. Flowerheads are rounded, the ray-flowers are blush pink, or light blue, sepals round and entire. Flowering time is from July to August. Unusually strong and hardy grower. Lustrous dark green leaves.
Haworth-Booth renamed this cultivar 'Blue Wave' (Van Gelderen says this is an illegitimate name, although one that is in general use and firmly established). Blue flowering plants sold are called 'Blue Wave' or 'Bluewave', and pink ones go under the original name 'Mariesii Perfecta', but it is certain that they are otherwise identical. Selected by Victor Lemoine of France in 1904.

Flowers are blue even if grown in neutral or mildly alkaline soil. Very beautiful.
