I have it in full sun next to the deck where it gets a little bit of shade from the deck. It is in continually moist soil, thanks to its proximity to the rain barrel. None of my tall beardeds did well in this spot, but this little guy is an energizer bunny!

It increased from one plant to an area about 3 feet in diameter, densely packed, in about 6 years. This year I divided it, gave away a bunch of rhizomes, replanted some, and had extras that I planted in a fence-row, to see how they do in a naturalizing situation.
This plant multiplies FAST!
I got it as a 1 gal. plant 2 years ago and now it filled up a 3 sq ft. location.
