Hosta 'Aureomarginata'

...Read More /> Considered a hosta "classic" and is highly respected for not only its strikingly variegated foliage, but by doing well under a variety of conditions. The origin is a bit confused and has been attributed to both Alan Bloom of Bressingham Gardens, England and also Karel Hensen of the Netherlands. It is known under a variety of names as well including H. ventricosa aureo-variegata, H. ventricosa variegata, and H ventriosa 'Variegated'.

Leaves are about 8.5" long by 7" wide, broadly ovate with a heart-shaped base and long, twisted tip. It has average substance and 8-10 vein pairs. The top and undersides are shiny. Margins vary in depth from 1" to 2.5" and changes from a chartreuse yellow to creamy white by mid-June. The center remains a mid to dark green. Many seed pods form but no information is given as to the viability.

This plant has a good growth rate and better than average sun tolerance.
