Stachytarpheta indica, commonly known as Snakeweed, is typically found in waste grounds as a weed. It grows in nature reserves, along seashores and roadsides, as well as in disturbed areas, coconut plantations and mango groves. In Africa and Southeast Asia, it grows wild in rice fields and pastures. The flowers - in pink, violet, white and red varieties - are found on long, narrow spikes which can range from 15-40 cm long."
