You are supposed to trim it after flowering to control size and to make it bushier. It hasn't grown in my garden long enough to be pruned. On the plus size, the flowers are so beautiful and airy, especially when watched from a close distance.
UPDATE: May 2016. I yanked it out. Just couldn't stand its weedy, free flowing quality in a garden I want to keep semi formal. I planted it in a spacious area but there were some amaryllis bulbs and DLs that disappeared underneath the airy bachelor buttons. I hated to get rid of it, its not an easy to find plant. I would encourage anybody to grow it b/c it is lovely but pleas consider your location very carefully.
