Consumer preference trials however, rate SK Red Mammoth as most preferred, much superior to Boyne.

Color: Bright red, redness Hunter Colorimeter “a” value: 33.6 (Boyne 29.5) Redness better than Boyne after 3 and 6 days storage.

Shape: Slightly conical.

Soluble Solids: 10.9% (Boyne 10.6)

Titratable Acids: 2.65 g of citric acid per 100 mls of juice. (Boyne 2.75%)

Other: Bacterial plate count studies seem to indicate that this cultivar exhibits antibiotical properties.
Berries are easily detached from the pith and stalk; separation is much easier than with Boyne. Fruit is larger than Boyne. Berry diameter is 21.5 mm (Boyne: 16.3 mm). Ten berry weight: 27.5 g (Boyne: 21.3g).

Yield: Long season producer, bearing is greatest in mid to late season. Over-all yield in width/meter is similar to Boyne.

Winter Hardiness: Much more hardy than Boyne.

Vigor: Medium to above average.

Cane Sturdiness: Requires trellising. Canes are less sturdy than Boyne but fruit is held fairly well off the ground.

Harvestability: Appears suitable for machine harvest.

Market: Is most suited to processing market but is also suitable to commercial fresh market.
