Bears solitary, 7-9 petalled, red, purple, pink or any shade inbetween flowers with a black central boss of stamens, very often circled with white from the base of the petals.
Flowers late March - June
Likes sandy, light soil in full sun. Needs to be kept dry while dormant which is anytime from June through to February, the tubers can be lifted and kept in sand/sawdust or leave in soil and provide a winter mulch. Will not survive in wet winters unless lifted (I've tried) and will not cope with frosts at all.
