My only question is: is this plant known for producing sucker branches ? I have 6 very tall non flowering branches that to my gardening knowledge I would say are indeed suckers. Any information is greatly appreciated.

It seemed Perfect; deer resistant, drought tolerant, clay soil, pest and disease tolerant, and FRAGRANT to boot! But alas, today is the day I pick up my order and upon further search this morning, I have found info that it is toxic! I need to know to what degree! The floral display is attractive but I don't find it overwhelming.
Easy, adaptable. No serious pest or disease problems. Flowers best in full sun.
It was hybridized by Tom Ranney at NC State U. using three species: C. floridus, C. occidentalis, and C. chinensis.
I heard about Calycanthus from a friend and did a lot of research about which cultivar was the most fragrant. Decided upon 'Aphrodite'......Read Morethen it took me 2 years to find one. It has been growing in my garden for a couple of years now. The first year, I got a few blooms, last year maybe 10 or 12. I am really looking forward to the show this year. I think it was worth the wait.
