Despite height issue, it is reliably hardy, even after difficult winters, and color is true to description.

Late to begin growth in the spring. Divide in spring before much top growth has appeared. Slow to establish. Cut back stems to evergreen basal foliage at the end of season.
Best in full sun in well-drained/sharply drained soil with consistent moisture. Not very tolerant of drought. Requires excellent drainage in winter.
