IMO, this one is great as a conversation item but whether it will be noticeable in the garden, I don't know. Kinda like painting a fence black--becomes invisible. Being a new item, I had to have one and potted it with some dark coleus and yellow petunia.

This mounded upright grower was a Ball FloraPlant 2010 offering in the California Spring Trials. It was shown along with its also black siblings Phantom and Pinstripe, both bicolors. I found it in the summer of 2010 and was thrilled. At times, a petal or 2 had yellow splotches but the majority of blooms were a solid color. Black Velvet petunia is a very special introduction with such unique coloring! It is a A Simply Beautiful® selection.
