In Ghanian cuisine, it is known as "Ayoyo".
This species is easily germinated in commercial peat-based mixes, and thrives with full sun, warmth, and regular moisture, but well drained soil is important, because it is susceptible to overwatering. It transplants easily and without issue, grows quickly, and eventually reaches 5-6 ft (2m) in a suitable environment. Some literature claims it to be perennial, but even when plants are overwintered indoors, my experience is they die after setting seed. Fortunately, each plant will set an abundance of seed if subjected to a sufficiently long growing season.
