My only wish would be for amaryllis to bloom year round because they have such an impressive flower. But alas...it's not to be. The strappy leaves stay green until they get frost bitten in the winter (it gets pretty cold here in central Florida). Then the leaves die back and shrivel up. They seem to be quite happy to multiply on their own and I'm looking forward to the day they fill the area I have given them. I did read somewhere that if I cut the flower stalk off, they can produce another flower stalk in the same year...anyone know if this is true? I have never personally seen this happen, but it would make me very happy if it were to turn out to be true. I'd be very grateful if anyone out there in "flowerland" could corroborate this. Thanks!
