Butia Species, Dwarf Jelly Palm

It...Read More does well in full sun but can tolerate some slight shade and is probably hardier than 9a, but I don't know. The leaf color can range from greenish to bluish-gray (similar to other Butia) and the leaves make a nice arch back towards the trunk. Looks a lot different from other Butia (as far as Butia go) but seems fairly similar in care requirements to its more common cousins.

Update: After the extremely cold winter of 2010 the larger one lost its spear and the smaller had foliar damage. I think this was due to the long period of time it was below freezing rather than ultimate lows (it reached 20 degrees). I think they will recover.

Update 2: Both are recovering strongly!
