It was the only thing green and blooming during the great drought of 2011 in Texas. It had 7" of rain in 12 months and no irrigation on a gravely hill under some water sucking cedars and still it bloomed. They have been a long lived perennial for me showing no slacking off. One was planted in 1990 and it is still going strong even with me ripping it out of its homein 2000 and planting it in a whole new landscape. It is surrounded by its kids. They grow from cuttings easily in the spring. If you live high and dry and want to save water and not simp on the color, I recommend this plant.
