Great cooked or raw. Especially good for oven roasting (garlic, crumbs, parm, yum).
I'm waiting to see whether they are somewhat resistant to Texas summer heat (most tomatoes stop producing a few weeks from now).

The flavor was good---not by any means the best, in comparison with the heirlooms, but quite acceptable, and much better than most hybrids. Productivity was excellent, and it kept producing well after all the others had quit. We intend to grow it again next year.
Fruit are spherical and grow in clusters of 7-8, 10-11/lb. 69 days to maturity.
This was bred, not by employees of a big corporation, but by "retired" NC State University's Emeritus Professor Randy Gardner. He was among the first to take up the heirloom challenge to breed flavor into his hybrids, and he is among the first to combat late blight.

I did som...Read Moree research and found that Mountain Magic received the highest rating for taste among several late blight resistant varieties. So I gave it a try, and it turns out to be a very good, sweet tomato, perfect for salads. It is also very prolific, fairly early, and continues to the end of the season. I have not had any subsequent late blight problems, so can't comment on that aspect, but will be growing it regularly for flavor and production alone.
