Am growing one of these in subtropical Australia (in approximately USDA zone 10-11). It's a native we call Native Gardenia - So far (a ye...Read Morear or so in), I find it a strange little thing. Greenest of green leaves. But no flowers. It's starting to remind me of my other my other gardenias...Gardenia the non-flowering flower shrub... Have got it in a position it seems to like (so that battle is over) - it's happy in dappled shade. I'm living on the coast on a stretch of protected rainforest, so it could easily go into the ground, but for the moment, I'd like to keep it in its ceramic pot. Am experimenting with different ferts, have fed it worm juice (everything else in my garden goes nuts for worm juice, this one doesnt care), have fed it fish fert... chemical fertilisers, organic fertilisers... chemical fertilisers for acid-lovers. Anyway, I've not nailed its ISSUES yet, and dont seem to be killing it in the process - so I'll report back when I've got some useful information on what it responds to (and in particular, what makes it flower)!
